SUMMARY:Drawing birds at Slimbridge with Nik Pollard
DESCRIPTION:Join Nik Pollard for a morning drawing from life; ducks\, geese\, wading birds\, herons\, flamingoes and much more\, at Slimbridge Wetland Centre.\nBe inspired by the wetland environment as Nik encourages you\, through drawing exercises and expert tuition\, to develop your drawing skills in capturing movement and building an understanding of bird anatomy.\nLOCATION:\n• This one day workshop will be held at Slimbridge Wetlands Centre\, Gloucestershire.\nFACILITIES:\n• The Centre has a cafe and toilets throughout the site.\n• Although the workshop is based outside there are plenty of locations where we can shelter from the weather if need be.\nDO I NEED TO BE AN EXPERIENCED ARTIST?\n• Whether you are a complete beginner or want to improve your skills\, you are very\nwelcome to join us for this exciting workshop.\nWHAT SHOULD I BRING?\n• Please bring: – your usual ‘plein air’ art equipment – A5/A4 Sketchbook (or larger if you prefer) – A stool to sit on if you feel you will need one – Binoculars if you have any (these are not a requirement) – Water bottle for refreshment\n• Please wear clothes appropriate for making art outdoors (depending on forecast). – Waterproof coat – Sun hat – Warm layer(s) \nAnyone participating in Clifton Arts Club activities does so at their own risk. The Club and its members involved in organising such activities do not accept liability for loss or injury suffered by participants. \nPlease note – the cost of the workshop includes £5 towards the entrance fee at Slimbridge. If you are a member of the WWT we will reimburse the £5.

SUMMARY:Seascapes in oils with Annie Musgrove.  Adding dynamism to your work.
DESCRIPTION:Join 2023’s overall winner of the Ilminster Open to explore using oils to create atmospheric and expressive seascapes. In this course Annie will focus on how to use the effects of light to add drama and dynamism to your seascape.\n\nOver the course of the day\, you will learn how to start from an image to abstract key elements and add depth to your compositions resulting in your own unique response to the landscape. Annie’s approach is to encourage experimentation; mark making and play to push the boundaries of your work and give you confidence in making a start on new work.\n\nAnnie will demonstrate her approach to oil painting using palette knives\, rags\, sticks and other materials and share many hard-won lessons on composition and technique. Annie is an experienced tutor and will give plenty of hands-on help and discussion time.\n\nA selection of Annie’s work can be seen on www.anniemusgrove.co.uk and #anniemusgroveart on facebook and instagram\n\nMaterials: You are encouraged to bring your own oil paints/water-based oil paints\, masking tape\, charcoal\, table covering and tools such as palette knives\, rags\, old credit cards. Annie will also bring materials to help people out if they are short. Annie will be working on paper\, painting from an image. A selection of images will be available but it would be good if you brought your own images to work from. The more dramatic the better.\n\nAnnie will supply sheets of paper suitable for painting using oils. These sheets are 50 x 65 cm @ 250 gsm and are available for £1 a sheet. You are welcome to bring your own oil painting paper/boards.\n\nTea\, coffee and biscuits will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch.\n\nAnyone participating in Clifton Arts Club activities does so at their own risk.
