SUMMARY:An evening with Andrew Hood
DESCRIPTION:Andrew Hood is a Bristol based artist who draws inspiration from both British and international landscapes\, transforming overlooked scenes into compelling artworks. Frequent travels to places like Tuscany\, Morocco\, and the Cornish coast provide rich material for his paintings\, yet he remains equally inspired by the subtle charm of local settings. Drawing plays a fundamental part in Andrews creative process and during the talk he will discuss how he carefully selects his subject matter and takes from a simple sketch through to a finished painting’. \nAnyone participating in Clifton Arts Club activities does so at their own risk. The Club and its members involved in organising such activities do not accept liability for loss or injury suffered by participants.

SUMMARY:Janette Kerr - From the wild seas of Shetland to a small insignificant pond in Somerset
DESCRIPTION:Janette Kerr – Hon Royal Scottish Academician\, RWA Academician and Past President of the RWA \nJanette Kerr is a painter deeply embedded in place\, working at the interface between land\, sea\, and historical experience. For the last 15 years she has focussed primarily on Shetland and the far north\, traveling extensively to wild sea and weather-scoured places\, but also working more locally in Somerset. She will be discussing her practice and some of the projects/residencies she has been involved with. This will include (in no particular order): \nMaking work beyond the representational and passive \nDialogues between artist\, landscape and the act of drawing \nBeing prepared to lose ourselves in the encounter and losing control \nCollaborations and projects \nNot knowing and knowing when a work is complete \n\nAnyone participating in Clifton Arts Club activities does so at their own risk. The Club and its members involved in organising such activities do not accept liability for loss or injury suffered by participants.
