Janette Kerr – From the wild seas of Shetland to a small insignificant pond in Somerset

December 3 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM GMT
Free

Janette Kerr – Hon Royal Scottish Academician, RWA Academician and Past President of the RWA

Janette Kerr is a painter deeply embedded in place, working at the interface between land, sea, and historical experience. For the last 15 years she has focussed primarily on Shetland and the far north, traveling extensively to wild sea and weather-scoured places, but also working more locally in Somerset. She will be discussing her practice and some of the projects/residencies she has been involved with. This will include (in no particular order):

Making work beyond the representational and passive

Dialogues between artist, landscape and the act of drawing

Being prepared to lose ourselves in the encounter and losing control

Collaborations and projects

Not knowing and knowing when a work is complete

Anyone participating in Clifton Arts Club activities does so at their own risk. The Club and its members involved in organising such activities do not accept liability for loss or injury suffered by participants.
